FAQs

Does solar offer a tax credit?

YES!

The solar investment tax credit (ITC) allows you to deduct 30% of the cost of installing a solar energy system from your federal taxes.  Keep in mind that in Pennsylvania, the ITC applies only to those who have bought their solar system with a solar loan or a cash purchase, and the homeowner must have enough income for the tax credit to be relevant. You should check with your tax advisor regarding the details.

How do solar photocoltaic (PV) panels work?

Solar panels absorb the sun’s energy.  This energy is then passed through an inverter and converted into AC electricity.

Do my solar panels produce power if it is cloudy?

Solar power is dependent on sunlight.  The panels will produce slightly less energy when the sun isn’t shining.  Owning a battery increases the production of energy as it can be stored and used later.

Are there any maintenance costs?

Solar panels are incredibly durable and require almost no maintenance for 25 to 35 years.

Is my roof sufficient or will I need to replace my roof before installing solar?
